ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:
The official opening of the exhibition will take place on Tuesday, 15 September, at 6:00 PM in the museum’s multipurpose hall.
Architectures of Love, Art and Legacy brings the Museo Casa de Yrurtia in Buenos Aires to Trakošćan Museum as part of the Museum Exchange Programme 2026, a collaboration between two house museums in Argentina and Croatia.
The exhibition introduces Croatian audiences to the home and artistic world created by Argentine sculptor Rogelio Yrurtia and painter Lía Correa Morales, a couple of artists whose house in Buenos Aires became a museum and a lasting cultural project.
House museums preserve more than collections and architecture: they also preserve ways of living, creating and building relationships. At the centre of the exhibition is Lía Correa Morales, whose artistic practice and commitment to the house and its collections played a decisive role in shaping its continuity as a public cultural institution.
Through painting, photography, archival material, postcards, reproductions and audiovisual works, the exhibition explores images as forms of cultural transmission: ways of establishing continuity, revisiting the histories held within the house, and creating new relationships with its legacy.
Presented within the historic setting of Trakošćan Castle, Architectures of Love, Art and Legacy creates a dialogue between two house museums shaped by different histories and geographies and connected by a shared commitment to the ongoing interpretation and transmission of cultural heritage.
