The exhibition “With a Croatian Heart – With a Hungarian Soul: The Life and Times of György Draskovich, Bishop of Győr (1525–1587)” explores the life and legacy of one of the most influential ecclesiastical and political figures of the sixteenth century.

Drawing on artworks, historical documents, weapons, portraits and archival materials, the exhibition presents Draskovich as a bishop, statesman and intermediary between the historical Croatian and Hungarian lands during a turbulent period marked by Ottoman expansion and profound religious change.

By highlighting the shared heritage and long-standing historical connections between the two nations, the exhibition offers visitors insight into the cultural, political and spiritual context of the era in which Draskovich lived and worked.

The exhibition’s presentation and opening were supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia. At the opening ceremony, the audience was addressed by Dr András Veres, Bishop of Győr; Vinko Kovač, curator at Trakošćan Castle; and Dr Mladen Andrlić, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in Hungary, who officially opened the exhibition.
