The Archival Material Collection includes documentary material from the Drašković family’s legacy. It consists of documents that remained at Trakošćan Castle after the bulk of the family’s archives were sent to the Croatian State Archives in March 1945. The material covers a long period and many individuals but does not provide a complete picture of specific individuals or estates. However, it does supplement the material from the Croatian State Archives.
The material is divided into two large groups – those relating to family estates and those relating to individual family members. Almost all estates are covered, albeit with a small number of documents. The most significant number of documents pertains to the Trakošćan and Sellye estates. The family papers primarily include letters, promissory notes and settlements, invoices, contracts, court documents and personal papers. The oldest document is that of Marija Katarina Drašković, née Brandis, from the first half of the 18th century. Most documents have been preserved from Ivan IX. Drašković and his wife Juliana née Erdödy from the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, and the youngest originator of the material is Ivan XI. Drašković (first half of the 20th century). A smaller miscellanea group contains various documents from other families (Erdödy, Batthyány, Kulmer) and those of unknown provenance.
