The Book Collection consists of 1,730 books, which are a significant indicator of the long and rich history and culture of the Drašković family. Half of the books are displayed as part of the permanent exhibition, creating an authentic ambience. Most of the books are written in German and French, with a smaller number in English, Latin, Croatian, Hungarian and Italian.
The majority of the books date from the 19th century, with only a smaller part dating from the 18th and early 20th centuries. The oldest book in the collection, Manuductio animae ad coleum sive cura innocentiae, originates from 1725. Also worth mentioning is a Gothic script Bible from 1747, published by J. Georg Lochner, Nürnberg-Frankfurt.
Many subjects are covered, with fiction and encyclopaedic editions being the most prevalent. The collection includes works by renowned authors such as Schiller, Goethe, Shakespeare, Dickens, Scott and Dumas. Complete sets of popular 19th-century novels and books from the fields of history and politics, culture and art have been preserved. The collection also features various specialist manuals about hunting, cookery, sports, medicine, agriculture, etc. A large part of the collection consists of magazines and periodicals, such as Allgemeine Theatarzeitung, Deutsche Rundschau, Allgemeine Illustrierte Zeitung and Die Woche.
