The Tableware Collection includes around 300 various functional and decorative objects made of ceramics, porcelain, glass, metal and wood. Most of the items from the collection are on display in the permanent exhibition, and as tangible evidence, they contribute to a more authentic and higher quality documentation and presentation of snapshots from the daily lives of times gone by.
The objects were created in the period from the 17th to the 20th century, mostly in Central Europe. The collection features porcelain and ceramics from German, Austrian, Hungarian, Czech, Italian and English manufacturers and factories, including Meissen, Holitsch, Zsolnay, Minton, Thun, Fischer & Mieg, Max Roesler, Loket, L. Schütz, Reinhold Merkelbach, Josef Steidl, Lippert & Haas, Portheim & Sohn, Villeroy & Boch, Haas & Cžjžek, Ostmark Keramik, Stevenson & Williams, Callegari and Casali, and Nove.
Though not extensive in volume, a significant group consists of around 15 examples of 19th and 20th-century Meissen porcelain. Also valuable is a group of painted beer mugs with pewter lids from German workshops dating from the 18th century. A larger number of items stand out from the Holitsch manufactory, known for producing richly decorated dining sets.
Among the glass items, several examples of German-made glasses from the 17th and 18th centuries also stand out, cylindrical and conical in shape, painted in vivid colours with motifs of coats of arms and various figurative depictions and flower ornamentations. A small but significant collection is made up of pewter and brass plates of German provenance, mainly from the 17th and 18th centuries.
