Permanent Exhibition

Trakoscan - stalni postav

The preserved valuable museum materials located in the castle have been available to visitors since 1954.

The museum’s exhibits date from the 15th to the 19th centuries and are arranged in rooms that make up the original preserved layout of the interior. Of particular note are the Knight’s and Hunting Halls, the Music Room, the Dining Room, and the painter’s studio of Julijana Erdödy Drašković.

The most significant collections are:

  • furniture – important for learning about the original Historicist interiors of the second half of the 19th century;
  • paintings – an interesting gallery of family portraits;
  • weapons – valuable examples of firearms and cold weapons;
  • photography – the Drašković family were pioneers of photography;
  • books – housed in the castle’s library.

The museum’s exhibits are on display on five levels: the dungeon is located in the basement, then the upper and lower ground floors, and the first and second floors.

Almost all areas of the castle are accessible, from representative residential areas to auxiliary areas, so with a pleasant walk, visitors can experience the lifestyle of the Croatian nobility.
