SUB-MEASURE: 8.5 “Support for investments in improving the resilience and environmental value of forest ecosystems”

PROJECT:

“Arrangement of the northern path around the lake – Phase II.”

On 1st June 2020, Trakošćan Castle applied the project documentation, i.e. submitted the first part of the Application for support to the Paying Agency for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development for the project “Arrangement of the northern path around the lake – Phase II.”

Following the Decision on the Results of the Administrative Control of the Application for Support, which positively assessed the first part of the application, a Financing Agreement was signed with the Paying Agency for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development on 10th April 2021. According to the agreement, the intensity of support is 100%, with an estimated amount of HRK 744,000.00.

By the Decision on the Allocation of Funds dated 14th February 2023, Trakošćan Castle was allocated the highest approved support amount of EUR 98,745.77 (HRK 744,000.00), based on the positive assessment of the second part of the application for support.

BRIEF PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The investment involves arranging the northern part of the pedestrian educational path around Trakošćan Lake for all visitors, including providing access and movement for people with mobility impairments. The aforementioned investment is a continuation of the already implemented first phase of the arrangement of the path around the lake.

AIMS AND PURPOSE

The aim and purpose of the investment is to strengthen the importance of nature protection with a focus on education and information about the forest, the protection of forests and the environment, and flora and fauna. The implementation of the investment will encourage a positive attitude towards nature, raise awareness and educate visitors and local residents about the need and reasons for protecting the species and habitats around Trakošćan Lake and the associated forest park. All visitors will be provided with quality access and safe movement, including individuals with mobility impairments who previously could not use the educational path due to its inaccessibility.

Additionally, the arrangement of the pedestrian educational path will improve the value of public space in the forest and forest areas and increase the contribution to the national economy through sustainable management, use and comprehensive protection of forest resources and biodiversity in a manner and to the extent that does not lead to their deterioration, but rather maintains their potential, meets the needs and aspirations of current and future generations.
