Trakošćan Castle houses a collection of illustrations, unique within Europe, depicting military units and officers from the mid-18th century, all connected to the castle’s owners, the Drašković family.

One part of the collection features 49 portraits of officers of the 37th Line Infantry Regiment that was commanded by Count Josip Kazimir Drašković, and the other part is a wall tapestry depicting several infantry and cavalry units of the Imperial Army. The so-called “small genealogy” of the Drašković Family, which depicts the banderium (military unit) of Josip Kazimir Drašković, can also be included in this collection.

Although these parts of the collection have been processed and published on several occasions, they have never been accurately dated, interpreted or contextualised. Therefore, Trakošćan Castle has published the latest research by a group of experts in this catalogue.
